Dr. Yael Hasson holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Haifa. Her Ph.D. Dissertation focuses on the gendered characteristics and dimensions of the economic discipline in Israel from the viewpoints of women economists.
Dr. Hasson is the Director of Gender Equality at the Adva Center. As a researcher in Adva Center – a think and do tank and a policy research institute, Hasson has written many researches and position papers focusing, mainly on the gender implications of economic policies. She took a major part in the development of gender budgeting and gender mainstreaming approaches and practices. She has also been an advisor to the government and local authorities on implementing gender into the economic policies and budgets; and has engaged in training local women groups on issues of social economics and mainstreaming gender perspectives in the local authority’s policies and budgets.
In addition to her work in Adva Center, she is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Gender Studies Program in Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her Post- Doctoral project includes an establishment of unique dataset that contains information of all Israeli governmental and non-governmental mechanisms to promote women’s equality, feminism, gender, and LGBT rights.
