Racheli Tadesa Malkey, 38, is married to Shlomi and mother of Anael, Neria and Beeri. She currently lives in Askelon.
Racheli, who immigrated from Ethiopia in 1991, is the eldest daughter in the family, with seven brothers.
She is the Founder and Chairman of the Empowering Ethiopian Women Association, and is in her third year of study towards a degree in Social Work.
In 2019 Racheli was chosen to be one the 50 most influential women by the Forbes magazine. In 2021 She was chosen as one of the 12 most inspiring people by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was in 2017 that Racheli founded an empowering Ethiopian women’s community. The initiative currently numbers about 17,000 women, and the community has set itself the following goals:
- Encouragement for higher education,
- Leveraging and promoting businesses in the community,
- Assistance to single mothers and families in need,
- Initial assistance and empowerment for women who experience domestic violence and women who have been sexually
All this led to the establishment of Empowering Ethiopian Women Association in 2020, in order to help expand its outreach.
Racheli spends her days volunteering in the community and providing personal or professional guidance. In her free time, she loves to meditate.
