Kalanit Sharon, born in Israel, is a graduate of Seminar Hakibutzim with a degree in Directing theater and education.
She is a social activist always working to make Israel a more just, fair, caring and accepting society.

Kalanit’s activism is also deeply connected with art and performance. In the 2020 protests against Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued tenure as Prime Minister after being indicted with corruption charges (the Balfour protests), she was one of the Founders of the Pink Front. The group created new art performances and live installations every week of the protests, to emphasize different topics relating to current affairs and the society they wished to create.

In the beginning of 2023, after Minister of Justice Yariv Levin announced the government’s plan for a Judiciary Overhaul, Kalanit re-started the Pink Front with her co-founder, Yaniv Segal. The Front took part in all the demonstrations against the Judiciary Overhaul, by leading marches, bringing once again performance and live art installations to the protest space, and organizing direct actions.

In the first months after the October 7th massacre, Kalanit led the Pink Front community to volunteer with evacuees, farmers and hostage families, together with other protest organisations that turned to aid organisations when the government failed to help. Since then the group has been protesting with the hostage families in demand of a hostage deal to return all hostages, and simultaneously protesting for elections and against the continuing of the Judiciary Overhaul.

Kalanit is also one of the founders of “Demonstrating a Presence in the Knesset”, a project which aims to bring the liberal public back to the Israeli parliament, to strengthen the current opposition, criticise and scrutinise the legislation and oversight in person, and raise awareness to anti-democratic and anti-liberal agendas promoted there.

Kalanit is 35 years old, lives in Tel Aviv.
